Day 35, Tuesday

Leonard was transferred to the rehab hospital this afternoon. He was supposed to go earlier but the gastro doc wanted to talk to him about the colonoscopy. Everything was great except he says he has an ulcerated rectum which may have been caused from what happened last week with the diarrhea because he had to have that balloon and tube inserted. Needs a follow up in about 6 weeks.

He got to the rehab hospital too late in the day to get started with any therapy but come 7 AM tomorrow occupational therapy arrives and physical therapy will be coming at 10:30. He will have a total of 3 hours per day and he will have to work very hard in order to come home in 2 weeks. He's determined and I think he will be able to do it. He is very weak from inactivity for a month plus all the surgeries so he has his work cut out for him. He'll have to be like the little engine that could movie "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can".

Hi Leonard....this is Jim Cardwell...I've had you on mind constantly since I heard of your terrible wreck ...WOW!!....I can't believe you made it...unbelievable...Your accident has reminded me of the wreck that Ed Ratcliff, Don Raines and myself were in when we were teenagers...Do you remember?...We rolled Ed's Volvo 7 times...When we were left at the Regal gas station in Casa Grande by the police..(another story)...you were the one who drove from Phoenix..picked up the 3 of us and drove us to Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix...and we all made it..Don came within 5 minutes of death from loss of blood...Leonard, I don't remember if I ever thanked you for your selfless act...soooo....From the bottom of my heart..."THANK YOU"...
I am planning on visiting you soon..again...I'm sure glad you made it....and you sure have a super Lady in Lorrie....Bye..sleep well

Dear Leonard,
We've been following your progress here in Australia ever since we heard about the accident, and are so pleased that your recovery is coming along nicely. You are doing really great - and hopefully will be home soon to pester Lorrie all day long!
Lorrie, you and I have been friends for so long (15 years?) and you are STILL one amazing woman, staying so strong and positive through all of this. And keeping up the daily blog for all of us to read, also has helped you keep a bit of sanity by not having to tell the same story 50 times each day, so you can spend more time with your hubby and resting yourself as well. Good girl!
I was thinking today that you guys are such a great, close couple, that you might want to renew your wedding vows after he fully recovers!
We continue to pray for both of you - sending lots and lots of love from downunder,
Anna, Greg, Taylor & Jordan
