Day 12 Sunday

Today was a quiet day and he seemed very content. I turned on the movie Blazing Saddles and he smiled throughout the movie. I'm sure he would have laughed if it wouldn't hurt so bad. Michelle got a one hour break from work and drove R/T an hour just to spend 5 minutes with her daddy. It was worth the drive to see his smiling face. The nurses say he is the sweetest man and such a good patient. One of his drains was removed from the hip surgery area sometime the early morning hours but the other 2 drains are still in. I was informed today that the vent would remain on until after his ankle surgery is over. He's trying very hard to talk around the trach and making some sounds that we can sort of make out as words. Boy are we going to get an earful when he can talk. I sure miss our conversations.
